RUPAC is a Vadodara, India based Not for Profit organisation. It stands for Raagshala, Urmi and PraVa Arts Centre.
Raagshala is a venture of Shri Dushyant Rupolia which mainly came into being during Covid times to become a hugely popular online platform for young talented musicians and became highly successful in a short time. It eventually began physical editions in his native Sagar, M. P. a tradition we hope to continue.
Urmi is the heart of the Enterprise, the Registered office where most of the activities are held. PraVa is named after and in memory of Shri Pralhad and Shri Vaman Moghe, Indian classical music enthusiasts and among the early organisers of Indian Classical music Baithaks (small intimate gatherings) in Baroda.
RUPAC was informally established in May 2022 when a group of passionate music lovers got together and started a monthly Baithak series to give a platform to new talent in the Indian classical performing arts.
We made our humble beginnings by creating a modest corpus to start hosting budding artists; giving them an honorarium and a genuinely interested audience.
Our major funding patrons are Dr. Pragna and Mr. Dilip Desai without whom this organisation would not have taken root. We are eternally grateful to their generosity. We also give our heartfelt thanks to all our benefactors.
We are striving to establish a grassroots organisation to promote promising raw talent in the field of Indian Classical Arts, giving them an opportunity to perform in front of an audience; in some cases for their very first time.
We hold informal small scale baithaks in homes, temples and small intimate venues as a platform for young budding artists. In a year we organise 6-8 Baithaks.
The structure of each Baithak is an informal Riyaaz or Sadhana session, for young artists to venture into unchartered territories; exploring new concepts unlike formal performances. This would make them comfortable presenting extempore material in front of an audience, priming them for more formal formats. This idea has spontaneously developed into the current format of including the student body as well. All our performances typically begin with a short student recital followed by the main artist. With this students too are able to gain experience in performing for an audience while still studying, thus instilling a sense of confidence in them. Our policy is to remunerate each and every artist, main as well as accompanying.
Our long term goals are multifold:
